A series of local events are due to take place across Solihull starting in June 2017. These events branded World Café Events will give members of the public the opportunity to discuss issues in their community that are important to them and help identify how they can become involved in a community project or activity and how to apply for funding from the Police and Crime Commissioners Active Citizen Fund to turn their ideas into reality and help resolve local issues.
Whether you are already involved in a community group or would like to start one to address local issues we can help guide you through the process of forming a group through to applying for funding to start a long term project or one off activity.
The Active Citizen funding scheme will involve nearly a million pounds being spent on schemes throughout the West Midlands. Each Neighbourhood Policing Unit (NPU) has an annual budget allocated to it to help fund local community initiatives.
The Active Citizens Fund combines three previous streams of funding using money seized from criminals so that West Midlands Police will be better placed to engage with the public and encourage ‘active citizenship‘ to enable the public to help solve local issues and to make communities safer.
Small Grants may be used to help the community to purchase equipment or may be used to support a one-off community event or initiative. These grants will usually be smaller amounts, although there is no upper or lower limit.
